BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!
CUSTOM BUILDERS WARNING!!!!!!
This blog is here to give you all a heads up! If you are considering buying something from "Eric", take the time to check this out before you buy. Why am i doing this you are asking yourself! Well, simply put, I got had for more money than i care to lose. its not a fortune, and i wont be eating two minute noodles for the rest of the year, but its beside the point. Its principle. And furthermore, if you are reading this, there is a good chance you are like me! a fan of cafe racers, classic motorcycles of all descriptions, and you are probably in the middle of a custom build! So I am giving the info in the interest of helping out folk like me.
Let me give you the story in a nutshell.
I bought off ebay a custom cafe seat for my 1977 honda four. The seat pan is fine, hand made, decent craftmanship. The foam and vinyl however turned out to be rubbish. as you will see in the pictures, it was very lumpy, and totally unacceptable for the money i paid, and it absolutely couldnt be used on my bike. I wrote Eric about it, and he responded by sending me a new chunk of foam and cover. different from the original styling, and needing to be attached to the seat pan, and have the vinyl stretched. the cover was not what i had asked for, and furthermore, i was not able to do the job myself due to hand injuries at the time. i explained to Eric that i would like to get what i paid for- being a complete seat, and i would happily send the other one back. he has managed to avoid me, ducking and weaving, until it was too late for me to register a complaint with ebay or paypal- that is, he basically put me off with excuses until the 45 days had lapsed and i was unable to do anything about it! Now he simply refuses to answer my emails. Anyways, i have included some pictures, and parts of emails for you to see. It is of course your decision whether to buy or not, but I for one am tired of getting ripped off on the internet and ebay, and if this saves one person from some heartache, and losing some money, then ill sleep better for it.
Incidentally, he appears to have mostly good feedback, which would indicate that perhaps he usually gets it right, but dont expect good customer service from him, ( i dont think there really is an american company behind the business) and dont expect high quality product if you are builing a QUALITY custom! it might be ok for a cheap build or just for fun. ennyhoo, BUYER BEWARE!!
